Insect Identification

Identifying insects to the species level is a specialized skill that takes many years to develop for particular groups  (bees are one of those groups). Our team is specialized in plant, insect, and bee taxonomy and can help with tricky IDs or any stage of the identification process to help achieve your research, monitoring or conservation goals.

Unfortunately when collecting bees you catch a lot of other insects. Sorting insects into groups is a big job that we can help with! Most bees also need to be washed and dried before they can be properly identified.

Once you sort those bugs into groups, you need to prepare them for identification. This means placing a pin and labels on each and every specimen (this can take quite a lot of time).

Getting the correct species name to the bees is tricky. It requires looking at obscure anatomical features under the microscope. Luckily our team has many years experience in identifying bees to the species level.

Once all your specimens have names, their labels need to be properly databased to keep track of their information. This data can then be analyzed to produce meaningful metrics for research and conservation efforts.
